i would fix his design in literally 2 steps it would look sooo much better. maybe also adjust the colors but i dont count that .
one. make him not have a visible mouth. i dont like the idea of an anthro fly having lips and teeth. scary. play around with him being an insect and dont just slap the basic mouth drawing asset on him like for the rest of the designs
two. make the glasses cover his whole eyes. if we are going for the ‘glasses make it look like normal human eyes but SURPRISE when he takes them off he actually does have bug compound eyes!’ joke it doesnt work when we can already see the real ones. both a wasted joke potential and a very weird design choice
besides that. cute fly guy design. maybe one more thing would be making his wings bigger but im not sure if he even flies in the show. if he doesnt and thats the explanation or something then i could understand it
im not going to watch the whole thing but its sad knowing how uninspired and boring almost all of the oddballs cartoon is compared to the very first episode. i know its a stupid show for kids but come onnnn not all children's media has to be like this. the crocodile guy [is his name max ?. i dont even remember. i think] is the only character who at least COULD have something interesting going on with him but they drop every unique aspect of his character after the first episode from what i know. so what was even the point . this show is just. nothing .
also i dont even know if calling this cartoon ‘children’s media’ is technically correct because the crocodile guy almost fucking BLEEDS TO DEATH with visible gore in the first episode [his blood is green but . still] im so confused who was this show for. whats the demographic. i know the selling point is that its a show for a popular youtuber but i dont think people who watch james are interested in this. and just. you could replace james’ character with any other design and voice and literally nothing would change. this whole thing is just soulless. and its sad to me because if you changed some basic things about the plot and the overall goal of what the series is trying to be it would be a decent cartoon
